The New York City Council’s Planning and Land Use Division is seeking to fill Legal Intern positions.

SALARY RANGE:

$30.00 to $30.00 (Hourly)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Tasks include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist with data collection activities and analysis in the office and/or field.
  • Analyze and map data in an engaging and user-friendly manner.
  • Collect, enter, tabulate and analyze demographic and performance data.
  • Prepare brief memos explaining methodology and findings.
  • Assist with the preparation of existing conditions reports and other plan chapters.
  • Conduct research as needed to assist senior staff on projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of presentations and other community outreach activities.
  • Assist staff in research, analysis and recommendations related to Comprehensive Planning functions.
  • Attend meetings and hearings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrollment in an undergraduate program in planning, policy, economics, geography, or architecture/urban design a plus.
  • Solid project management skills including the ability to adapt to a changing environment and managing a wide variety of projects.
  • Computer applications proficiency in MS Office. Ability to work five days per week.
  • Skills related to GIS mapping, data visualization, notetaking, census data acquisition highly desired.
  • Experience in Spanish translation is a plus.

New York City residency required within 90 days of appointment.
