Many have reached out to my office, asking where they can donate used clothing and other goods. Here’s a list of drop-off donation sites and organizations that offer mail-in and pickup donations. 

On-going Collections:

Clothing Closet at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, 1047 Amsterdam Ave., directly opposite the guard booth adjacent to the cathedral (on the driveway between 111th and 112th streets). Ford Hall Food Pantry and Clothes Closet at Columbia University, 616 W. 114th Street (between Broadway and Riverside). Clothing, housewares, fresh food, and dry goods. Contact Info: (212) 854-6310. Hours: M, W, Th 11am-2pm

Housing Works (2569 Broadway, between 96th and 97th Streets). Women’s apparel, men’s apparel, furniture, jewelry and accessories, handbags, art, housewares, and lighting. Contact Info: (212) 222-3550. Hours: M-Sat 11am-7pm, Sun 12am-5pm

New York Cares Coat Drive (W 100th Street Fire Department Drop-off). Fire Department, Battalion 11, 145 W. 100th Street. New and gently used jackets and coats. Contact Info: (212) 228-5000. Hours: M-Sun 9am-5pm, ring bell and wait for employee.

New York Cares Coat Drive (NYIT Drop-off). 33 W. 60th Street (third floor). The drop box is near Room 321. New and gently used jackets and coats. Contact Info: (212) 228-5000. Hours: M-F 10am-5pm

Saint Francis Thrift Store- Holy Name of Jesus/ St. Gregory the Great Parish (207 W. 96th St. between Broadway and Amsterdam). New or gently used clothing and other household items. Contact Info: (212) 749-0276. Hours: W-Sun 11am-6pm

Stop ‘N’ Swap hosted by GrowNYC. Multiple locations (see website). Clean, reusable, portable items such as clothing, housewares, electronics, books, and toys. Contact Info: (212) 788-7900

Unique Boutique 487 Columbus Avenue, New York, NY 10024. Clothing, household furniture, and household items. Contact Info: (212) 362-8877. Hours: M-Sun 11am-8pm

Wearable Collections at Columbus Avenue Greenmarket. Columbus Avenue from 77th to 81st St. Clean and dry clothing, paired shoes, linens, handbags, belts, and other reusable textiles. Hours: Sun 9-12

Wearable Collections at Columbia University Greenmarket. Broadway from 114th to 116th St. Clean and dry clothing, paired shoes, linens, handbags, belts, and other reusable textiles. Hours: Sun 9-12

Give Back Box (Drop-off at Nordstrom W 57th Street), 225 W 57th St. Clothing, shoes, jewelry and household items can be donated. Contact Info: (212) 295-2000. Hours: M-Sat 10am-8pm, Sun 11am-7pm

West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing, 2345 Broadway, New York, NY 10024. New and gently used clothing, hats/gloves/ scarves, unopened toiletries, new art supplies, pianos, office furniture, lamps, housewares, artwork, and IT equipment. House of Good Deeds (W 42nd Street Drop-off), 1 River Place Suite 1406, New York, NY 10036. Like-new clothing, shoes, housewares, electronics, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and food (fresh, frozen, and shelf stable). Furniture and large appliances can be posted on their Facebook page. Animal Care Centers of NYC, 326 East 110th Street, New York, NY 10029. Blankets, towels, sheets, leashes, harnesses, unopened bags of pet food and treats, unopened litter, pellets, and hay. Contact Info: donate@nycacc.org. Hours: M-Sun 10am-6pm

Humane Society of NY, 306 East 59th Street, New York, NY 10022. New and used clean bedding, newspaper, towels, sheets, pillowcases, small blankets, pet beds, and new pillows in the original packaging. Contact Info: 212-752-4842. Hours: Contact to arrange drop-off time

Individual Pickups and Mail-in Donations:

United War Veterans Recycling. Schedule pickup online. Clothing (dirty/ torn is okay), fabric, towels, bedding, books, glasses, jewelry, stuffed animals, and more listed on website. Contact Info: (888) 881-8982.

Building Bin Programs:

Refashion NYC. Arrange for a small or large clothing bin to be placed and your building and be picked up when full. Clothing, shoes, hats, gloves, bags, towels, curtains, bedding, clean rags, and ripped/ damaged clothing.
