Upcoming events from my office:
- Friday, 6/27, 3 pm, virtual: Introducing NY Open Data, an hour-long training from civic nonprofit BetaNYC on using the City’s open data portal (which was created by legislation I passed in 2012!). Every time a street is cleaned, a tree is planted, a playground is built, or a restaurant is inspected, a corresponding data point is created. Assembling that data into educational or operational datasets is what this workshop will cover. RSVP at the link.
- Wednesday, 7/9, 6 pm at Goddard Riverside (593 Columbus @88th St.): Our monthly first-Wednesday Housing Clinic (second Wednesday in July’s case!), and the topic is “Rental assistance resources” There will be a presentation and Q&A on that topic, and an opportunity for a free consultation with a housing attorney. Co-sponsored by Goddard Riverside and TakeRoot Justice. Please arrive a little early to sign in; capacity is limited. Call 212-873-0282 for info. This will be the last Housing Clinic before September!
- Tuesday, 7/29 (and continuing every last Tuesday of the month, skipping August), 10 am–3 pm, at my District Office (563 Columbus Ave.): A Veteran Service Officer with the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be available to assist veterans applying for VA benefits, whether disability, pension, healthcare, dependent, education or home loans. Bring military service records and discharge form DD214; no appointment necessary.
