We must endeavor to spread love, joy, and hope by uniting as One Brooklyn – regardless of race or religion. Let us always remember that the battle between good and evil can only be won when we work together to fight back against hate.

Chag Sameach

The setting of the sun will mark the dawn of a joyous celebration amongst our Jewish community, Sukkot. Wishing all who will observe this momentous occasion, a Chag Sameach! 

At sunset, our Jewish friends will observe the holiest day in the Hebrew calendar – Yom Kippur. I wish all who will observe this Day of Atonement an easy fast as you pray, reflect, and repent for past transgressions.

Shanah Tova! I
am truly proud to represent a community that is home to diverse cultures and
religious beliefs.

On Sunday evening, our Jewish friends will observe Rosh Hashanah or New Year – a day of joy, a time of hope, and year of happiness. With every new beginning, we reflect and pray for health, prosperity, and peace.

Statement on 9/11 Anniversary

Eighteen years later, we
remember…

The heroes and survivors, the hurt and the heartbroken, the rescue
and recovery, the healing and the suffering.

We will never forget the terrorist attacks that shattered a
peaceful morning, devastating more than 3,000 families on that day and over the
course of two decades.

Statement on Eid al-Adha

Today, Muslims – locally and globally – are observing Eid al-Adha is remembrance of Ibrahim’s test of faith, obedience, and willingness to sacrifice his son.

As you commemorate the Festival of Sacrifice amongst family and friends, may we come together to reflect on the importance of selflessness and caring for the needs of others in our community.

As always, I am honored and proud to stand in solidarity with the Muslim community in district 45 and throughout the City of New York.
