Westsiders often reach out to our office about street trees; that’s why we’re hosting our first West Side Tree Care Clinics, with the experts from Trees New York and Big ReUse, who will teach how to “act locally” with practical stewardship skills of the 6th district’s tree canopy—ranked among the city’s most extensive. Thursday, 10/10 from 10 am–5 pm, outside my district office at 563 Columbus Ave: HPD in District 6. City Dept. of Housing Preservation and Development reps will be on hand to respond to housing-related issues including the 311 complaint process, open violations, accessing affordable housing, foreclosure prevention, and tenant harassment. Tuesday, 10/29 from 1–4 pm, Lincoln Center’s David Rubenstein Atrium (Broadway btw. 62nd & 63rd St.): Older Adult Tech Clinic. Trainers from Senior Planet and Older Adults Technology Services from AARP, DOROT, and NYPL Tech Connect Tech Coaches will answer your specific tech questions, one-on-one. MTA is also on hand to answer OMNY and Reduced Fare questions. Bring your phone, tablet, or laptop. To register for a time slot, call 212-873-0282.

Sunday, 11/10 from 10 am–2 pm at the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan (334 Amsterdam Ave. btw W. 75–76th St.): Community Recycling Day in partnership with the Lower East Side Ecology Center. Bring E-waste and recyclable items; also lightly used children’s clothing for the Children’s Clothing Drive from Monday, 10/28–11/10. Parkas and winter jackets are especially needed! Sunday, 1/26 from 1–4 pm, Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan (334 Amsterdam Ave. btw W. 75-76th St.): West Side Children’s Book Fair. Drop off new or nearly-new books for ages 0-13 years old at my District Office (563 Columbus Ave.) weekdays between Monday, 1/6/25 through Friday 1/17/25. Dropoffs continue to be accepted at the JCC from Monday 1/20/25 through Friday 1/24/25.
