- Saturday, 4/11–Saturday, 4/19: Participatory Budgeting Vote Week. Each year, we recruit 6th District residents to identify and vote on ways to spend $1 million on long-lasting (“capital”) projects in the district. - Thursday, 4/16, 4:30–7:30, 563 Columbus: District Office Open House
- Sunday, 4/26, 10 am–2 pm, Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan (334 Amsterdam Ave at W. 76th St.): Electronics and Textile Recycling Day. Bring all working (and non-working!) electronics —computers, keyboards, laptops, printers, phones, TVs, and DVD players. - Thursday, 4/30, 6–7:30 pm, Goddard Riverside Community Center (593 Columbus at 88 St.): Block Associations are Back! Learn about of common scams, their impact, prevention tips, and what to do if you have been a victim of fraud, co-sponsored by Weinberg Center for Elder Justice, Assemblymembers Micah Lasher and Linda Rosenthal, and Community Board 7. Ongoing events from my office:
- First and third Thursdays, from 10 am–5 pm, a member of West Side Campaign Against Hunger’s Benefits Access Specialist Team will be at my district office to help people apply for SNAP benefits (a.k.a. food stamps), submit case changes or appeals, and answer questions. Starting in September, WSCAH will be here every first and third Thursday of the month through December. Call my office at 212-873-0282 to schedule an appointment.
- Last Tuesdays, 10 am–3 pm, at my District Office (563 Columbus Ave.): A Veteran Service Officer with the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be available to assist veterans applying for VA benefits, whether disability, pension, healthcare, dependent, education or home loans. Bring military service records and discharge form DD214; no appointment necessary.
- On Mondays from 2–5 pm, Cheryl, our talented volunteer helps those with SCRIE/DRIE/SCHE applications and renewals. To make an appointment, call 212-873-0828.
- First Wednesdays (except on or following holidays): 6 pm, Goddard Riverside (593 Columbus @88th St.): Our monthly Housing Clinics. The May topic (5/6) is “Forming a Tenant Association.” There’ll be a presentation and Q&A and an opportunity for a free consultation with a housing attorney.
