Council Member Farah Louis saw the need to generate creative solutions to these crises and led the charge to bring an answer straight to Flatbush Gardens, one of the largest housing developments in Brooklyn, with almost 25% of residents receiving government housing subsidies.
With the support of Council Member Louis, Clipper Equity provided Bridging Access to Care (BAC) with free office space and other resources in their development, understanding that direct contact between respected service providers and residents would help make the community a more welcoming, stable place.

For National Gun Violence Awareness Month in the month of June, Council Member Louis organized a youth rally and an anti-gun violence tournament at Nostrand Playground to raise awareness of gun violence. The event focused on decreasing gun violence and increasing safety among community members, where resources, job opportunities, and activities were available to help protect and prevent gun violence.

“Currently in the city of New York, steam radiators do not have to be inspected so this bill creates a space for that annually for steam radiators to have inspections in apartments with children under the age of 6,” said Council Member Louis.
