City Hall – The City Council, along with the New York Blood Center, hosted a blood drive to help build supplies during the summer months which typically see fewer donations. Council Speaker Christine Quinn along with Council Members and staffers were on hand to help in the effort.

Although blood is essential every day, donations tend to be lowest during the summer vacation months as people travel more.

Under new law sponsored by Council Members González and Lander, Sunset Park will be the first neighborhood to earn reductions in street cleaning

“The court’s decision is deeply disappointing and is a disservice to women. We will not waver in our fight for New York City women and we will immediately appeal today’s ruling.

Today’s decision means that pregnancy service centers can continue deceiving women who seek their services. Equally troubling is that the centers will not be required to keep confidential the information collected from women who visit them.
