Our New York City Fire Department (FDNY) firefighters put their lives on the line to keep New Yorkers across all five boroughs safe and sound.
That’s why making sure that our firefighters are properly and adequately equipped is one of our main priorities because it ensures their safety and their ability to do their jobs properly.
The Council is proud to have secured this $4 million in funding to provide a much-needed second pair of boots to all of our FDNY members.

We are proud to provide $3 million in funding for this first phase of the reconstruction of the East River Esplanade seawall, in addition to $12 million allocated by the Mayor.
Through this funding, the existing esplanade will be enhanced, new sections will be created, and several piers will be renovated and redeveloped.

Unlike in criminal proceedings, tenants facing eviction do not have a guaranteed right to counsel. As recently as 2013, 99 percent of landlords in New York City house court were represented, compared to just one percent of tenants. Similarly, residents of New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) buildings in administrative proceedings that can lead to eviction rarely enjoy the benefits of legal assistance.
