We celebrated Diwali, the festival of lights in a beautiful ceremony full of dancing, music and lights! Thank you to everyone who attended and congratulations to all our honorees!

Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, Council Member Helen Rosenthal along with McDonald’s family attended a ceremony co-naming the 86th Street transverse as “Detective Steven McDonald Way.”

A 15-year-old boy shot McDonald on July 12, 1986, while the officer was responding to a bicycle theft in the park, leaving the cop paralyzed for the remainder of his life. We remember him as a hero who exemplified the best of our City.
