BROOKLYN, NY – New York City Council Member Farah N. Louis issued the following statement after a gunman opened fire at a mall and nearby Walmart in El Paso, Texas. Although the alleged suspect is in police custody, at least 19 people are dead and 40 sustained injuries.
“Another week, another shooting in another community now torn apart by gunfire. We stand with the survivors and families of the victims as they begin to cope with today’s tragic event. Our nation is in a state of crisis as more and more communities are terrorized by such heinous crimes. I am thankful that the first responders quickly apprehended the alleged perpetrator. Let us keep the city of El Paso and all those affected in our prayers.”
