Council Member Dinowitz’s bill aimed to redefine what a ‘veteran’ means to include those with less-than-honorable discharges passed, making it the first bill that he has authored to be passed in the Council.

City councilmen Eric Dinowitz, Mark Treyger and Mark Levine feel that New York City schools are not making enough of an effort to test and vaccinate students against COVID-19. They believe that with rising case numbers, students and staff should be tested weekly, and that even as some classrooms had to go remote on December 17 due to infections, the schools do not have plans to handle the increase in cases following winter break.

As New York City’s composting program with curbside pick-ups restarts for the first time since the pandemic, Riverdale and Kingsbridge become the first neighborhoods in the Bronx to be added to the program. Bob Fanuzzi of Bronx CB8’s Environmental Committee and Councilmember Eric Dinowitz pushed for these neighborhoods to be added to the program.

New York City Councilman Eric Dinowitz and New York State Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz have sent a joint letter to city Department of Education (DOE) Chancellor Meisha Porter requesting that a centralized remote learning option be made available solely for students who are either too young to be vaccinated or have legitimate medical reasons to not be vaccinated, such as those who are undergoing chemotheraphy or who have compromised immune systems.
