Council Member Abreu is excited to be one of several council members taking part in the Participatory Budgeting process, in which the community directly decides how to spend $1,000,000 on local improvement projects. Vote week is live from Saturday, April 6th through Sunday, April 14th, 2024, so be sure to submit your ballots as soon as possible! 

You can vote online at pbnyc.org/vote or in person at these locations and times:

  • My District Office, 500 W. 141st Street (12 p.m.—4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m.—5 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 10 a.m.—7 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday)
  • Bloomingdale Library: 150 West 100th Street (10 a.m.—5 p.m. on Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday)
  • Recirculation Community Library: 876 Riverside Drive (6 p.m.—9 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 3 p.m.—6 p.m. on Sunday, 4/14)

These 11 projects are on the 7th District ballot:

  • Repair of Steps at 108th Street and Riverside Drive. $250,000Repair and reconstruct the staircase so that people can safely access the lower levels of the park.
  • Repave the West Side of Broadway btw. 137th and 125th St. $250,000. Project would allow for safer driving and biking without dodging potholes.
  • Resurface the basketball courts in Riverside Park at 110th St. $500,000. This project would eliminate the cracks that produce bad bounces.
  • New turf for fields 4, 6 & 7 in Riverside Park. $400,000. Project would allow children to play safely and not trip on tears in the surface. The existing turf is over 10 years old.
  • Beautification of Morningside Park Farmers Market entrance. $150,000Project would fix tree beds of uneven and loose stone, paint fences and benches, and include better trash cans.
  • Renovations at Happy Warrior Playground (780 Amsterdam Ave). $500,000Project would allow people to use the basketball courts and athletic field, both in need of repair.
  • Rocky Run Dog Park Renovation. $500,000Project would allow people to bring their dogs safely to an already established dog park that is in much need of repair.
  • Install air conditioners in the Mott Hall II 5th floor gym. $500,000. Project would allow for physical education classes in an air conditioned space that is brutally hot during the warmer months.
  • Tree Planting in Manhattan Community Board 9. $100,000Project would allow people to get shade from the sun and make the corner look nicer.
  • Tree Planting in Manhattan Community Board 7. $100,000Project would allow more shade for people to walk in, even when it’s very hot and sunny.
  • Tree Guards in Manhattan Community Board 9. $100,000Project would protect these plant beds as dedicated green space, not an area to litter in.
