The Fiscal Year 2025 City Council Discretionary Expense funding application is available as of Thursday, January 4th, 2024:

As it relates to Expense Applications

The discretionary funding application is available on the New York City Council website. The deadline for submitting the application is Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 5:00 PM. Organizations that fail to submit an application by that deadline will NOT be eligible for discretionary expense funding.

Our office will be requiring a supplemental form this year for groups that did not previously receive funds from our office in FY24 only. Please submit by the application deadline.

For groups that did not previously receive funds from our office in FY24: A supplemental form is available here:

We are not currently accepting meeting requests for groups that did not receive funding from our office and instead encourage them to complete this form – if additional funding becomes available we will reach out to groups that completed this form first.

Please note: the same application will be used to fund (1) requests for Member Item Funding from Council Members; and (2) requests for funding related to Speaker Initiatives and Citywide Initiatives and ALL other Council initiatives (a drop-down menu box in the application will allow you to apply for a specific initiative).

It is recommended that organizations complete individual applications to Council Members and separate applications for Speaker funding and/or Initiative funding.

As it relates to Capital Funding:

Information about non-city capital applications is available on the City Council webpage and is linked here:

Application deadlines vary depending on the source of the funding your group has requested.

  • Thursday, February 22, 2024, 5:00pm: applies if your project requests any funding from Borough Presidents (including those groups that are also requesting funding from the Council or Department of Cultural Affairs)
  • Thursday, March 21, 2024, 5:00pm: applies if your project is only requesting funding from the Council and/or the Department of Cultural Affairs

Groups that have successfully completed and submitted an application through the Cap Grants portal can reach out to schedule a meeting by emailing our office.

For city capital funding:
Schools in CD7 looking to apply for funding should email our office directly at the contact below with their budget requests. All other city capital requests can be submitted to the email below as well.
