New York, NY — I am proud of the agreement we’ve reached on Introduction 991, which ensures that hotel workers can thrive and work in a safe and secure environment. This is a significant win for our workers, recognizing the vital role they play in supporting our local economy.
I want to extend my gratitude to the Hotel and Gaming Trades Council, the Restaurant Alliance, and the Hotel Association of New York City, as well as to New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams and Council Member Julie Menin, for their open-minded and thoughtful approach throughout this negotiation process. Together, we have worked to balance the needs of workers with the concerns of local businesses, particularly in areas like Southeast Queens, ensuring that both can continue to prosper.
This legislation underscores our commitment to the fair treatment of our workers while promoting a business-friendly environment that sustains the vitality of our communities. I look forward to seeing how this will benefit both our workforce and our hospitality industry as we move forward.
