City Hall, NY-Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, the Chair of the Committee on Environmental Protection, Council Member Donovan Richards, and James Meeks, CEO of MOVE Systems, announced today a new pilot to provide 500 state-of-the-art eco-friendly food carts to vendors throughout New York City neighborhoods. ‎Joined by local street vendors and supporters, MOVE Systems unveiled the new carts, which are designed to increase safety, provide clean food preparation, and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from food carts.

3,700 residents vote on over $2 million in capital funding for projects in East Harlem and the South Bronx

Today, Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito joined with residents to announce the results of participatory budgeting in East Harlem and the South Bronx. After a year-long process of neighborhood assemblies, delegate meetings, and project expositions, 3,700 residents voted to fund over $2 million for capital projects that address longstanding community needs in New York City’s 8th Council District.
