

Program Overview
The Office of Council Member Dr. Nantasha Williams (District 27) offers a year-round Internship Program designed to give students and community members hands-on experience in local government, public service, and community engagement. Interns play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the office while learning how the New York City Council serves residents and advances legislation at the local level.
This program is ideal for individuals who are passionate about social justice, civic engagement, and making a meaningful impact in their community.
Mission & Purpose
The CM Internship Program aims to:
- Provide direct exposure to local government and the NYC Council
- Support constituent services and community outreach efforts
- Build professional skills in communication, research, and office operations
- Create pathways for youth and students to pursue careers in public service
What Interns Will Do
Interns work closely with all members of the team, especially constituent liaisons, and may assist with:
- Answering phones and assisting constituents
- Completing constituent intake forms
- Supporting case management and follow-up
- Drafting emails, letters, and internal memos
- Conducting policy and legislative research
- Helping plan and staff community events
- Maintaining spreadsheets and tracking data
- Contributing to office-wide projects

Program Schedule
The internship program runs year-round with seasonal cohorts:
- Fall Cohort: Early October – Mid December
- Spring Cohort: Late January – Mid May
- Summer Cohort: Early June – Mid August
