BROOKLYN, NY – New York City Council Member Farah N. Louis issued the following statement after 10-year-old Enzo Farachip was killed when a car jumped the curb, struck him, then crashed into a scaffolding near a B49 bus stop in Midwood.

STATEMENT BY COUNCIL MEMBER FARAH N. LOUIS

“Our city streets should be safe enough for parents not to worry about the whereabouts or well-being of their children. With the first full week of school underway, more than 1.1 million students citywide are traveling to and from school – often by public transportation. No parent should ever have to hear that their child will not be coming home from school today. While the circumstances surrounding the motorist and yesterday’s crash remain under investigation, we must continue to look for ways to make our streets safer for all. I want to extend my deepest sympathies to the family of 10-year-old Enzo Farachio, his classmates, and school community,” said Council Member Farah N. Louis.
