Today, Muslims – locally and globally – are observing Eid al-Adha, one of the holiest days in Islam.
The holiday commemorates the story of the Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah and his willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail.
It is meant to remind Muslims of their faithfulness to Allah and each other.
May this occasion unite us as a community through love, compassion and caring for the needs of others.
As always, I am honored and proud to stand in solidarity with the Muslim community in District 45 and throughout New York City.
Eid Mubarak!
