In The City That Never Sleeps, there are always New Yorkers in transit to or from work – weekdays, weeknights, and weekends – to keep us healthy, safe, and on the move.
Being a civil servant can often be a thankless job, but it is an instrumental role that has a tremendous impact on our everyday lives. From healthcare and sanitation to public safety and transportation, we depend on every person to do their part to keep us on track.
As a Member of the Council Committee on Civil Service and Labor, I want to thank our unparalleled workforce for its tireless dedication towards the economic growth of our city. I am proud of our continued work at City Hall to improve work conditions and expand labor laws to protect workers’ rights and wages.
Let us reflect on the labor movement – past and present – as we celebrate the invaluable contributions of our nation’s workforce towards building a more sustainable and equitable future.
Lastly, in observance of Labor Day, my district and legislative offices will be closed today, September 2, 2019. We will reopen on Tuesday, September 3rd at 9AM.
