NEW YORK, NY – Today, the New York City Council unanimously passed Int. No. 660-A sponsored by Council Member Eric Dinowitz. The legislation will require the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD), in consultation with the Department of Education (DOE) and other relevant stakeholders, to develop and manage a program to assist students with disabilities who are graduating high school to obtain accommodations at college and ease their transition to higher education.

BRONX, NY – On June 22, 2023 the New York City Council approved the co-naming of the crosswalk located at 6115 Broadway between West 251st Street and Manhattan College Parkway to Betty and Lloyd Adams Way.
The proposal was first put forward by Council Member Eric Dinowitz in 2021 with the support of Lloyd and Betty’s children, Lilka and Brandon Lloyd Adams, but due to bureaucratic hurdles was not able to be passed until June, 2023.

The resolution calls on the New York State Legislature to pass and the Governor to sign the Fair College Admissions Act (A.1423-A/S.1470-A), which would prohibit legacy admissions preferences at undergraduate institutions in New York State.
