District 35

Crystal Hudson

Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Prospect Heights, Crown Heights

In addition to contacting a Council Member, constituents can explore issues they face or ideas they want to explore with their local Community Board of Precinct Community Council at a monthly meeting.

  • Community Board: Community Boards are city agencies established by the City Charter to monitor the delivery of city services, aid in resolving constituent concerns, review certain city and state applications (e.g. liquor license, cannabis dispensary, sidewalk café), and advise the city on land use, zoning, public policy, and the city budget. There are 59 community boards across the five boroughs to oversee a specific community district. Each Community Board District Office is managed by city staff and represented by a board of 50 volunteers who are appointed by the Borough President and local City Council members.
  • Precinct Community Council: Precinct Community Councils aim to encourage community cooperation among local precincts, businesses, and residents. Council meetings aim to promote awareness of precinct efforts, encourage community participation in identifying and mitigating quality of life issues, and enhancing relations between local precinct and the communities they serve.

Find your local community board or precinct using this tool. Please note that dates may change due to religious observances and holidays. Be sure to check the board’s calendar online to verify meeting details before attending. (Note: Many meetings are suspended in July and August for summer recess.)
