May 6, 2022: Community Groups to Host Flushing Spring Family Day, QNS

The Charles B. Wang Community Health Center (CBWCHC) in partnership with Empire BlueCross BlueShield and Garden of Hope will host Flushing Spring Family Day on Saturday, May 14, in Kissena Corridor Park. Councilmember Sandra Ung joined Dian Yu, executive director of the Flushing Business Improvement District, and volunteers from a local Chase Bank branch on Wednesday at a cleanup event in James Bland Playground.

May 4, 2022: Flushing Lawmaker Launches Free Legal Clinics, Queens Daily Eagle

Councilmember Sandra Ung and Queens Legal Services are partnering to provide free legal assistance to Flushing residents beginning this week. The legal clinics will take place on the first Friday of each month, and will rotate between housing, immigration and government benefits experts.

Council Member Sandra Ung earlier this week accompanied Brenda Garcia as she reported for her first shift back to work at Chipotle at 136-61 Roosevelt Avenue in Flushing. Garcia returned to work four days after 32BJ SEIU filed charges under the National Labor Relations Act accusing Chipotle of firing her for union activity.

Council Member Sandra Ung on Friday morning invited Department of Transportation Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez on a walking tour of downtown Flushing to discuss some of the transportation issues affecting the area. 

The intersection at Main Street and Roosevelt Avenue is the third busiest in the city behind only Times Square and Union Square, while the transit hub in Downtown Flushing is the busiest train-to-bus transfer point in the entire borough.
