This week, Councilmember Sandra Ung proudly cast a “yes” vote for NYC’s FY23 budget, which totals $101 billion. Throughout the budget process, Councilmember Ung prioritized securing funding for AAPI communities and the needs of residents across Flushing, helping secure a budget that puts immigrant communities at its heart. 

“This week, I was proud to join with Speaker Adams and my colleagues to vote “AYE” on a budget that delivers historic levels of investment for our community,” said Councilmember Sandra Ung.

Council Member Sandra Ung, together with Council Members Tiffany Caban, Rita Joseph and Linda Lee, today introduced legislation in the City Council that would require the Department of Homeless Services to prepare a report on the feasibility of partnering with community-based nonprofit organizations to accept and process applications for shelter intake from families with children.

Currently, families in need of emergency shelter must travel to the Prevention Assistance and Temporary Housing (PATH) intake center Bronx, the only location that processes families with young children.

Council Member Ung Joins AAF for Opening of First Queens Office, QNS

Members of the Asian American Federation (AAF) were joined by local elected officials and community leaders to celebrate the grand opening of its brand-new office in Flushing on Thursday, May 26. Ung, who represents the district, said she looks forward to working with AAF on everything from civic engagement to economic development to better serve its diverse Asian American communities.
