”At the outset of this crisis, I joined with my colleagues in government to propose an idea to lessen the burden of rent payment: the use of security deposits to cover the cost.

As the city and state weigh various options, this is a common-sense measure that provides immediate and direct relief to renters.

I commend Governor Cuomo for allowing tenants statewide to use security deposits to cover the cost of rent, which will lessen the financial strain for scores of New Yorkers.”
