FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 3, 2019
“Any plan that reduces the inconvenience for commuters and improves the quality of life for my constituents is a welcome upgrade. However, the previous plan came after careful planning and extensive community outreach, in addition to months of disruption to my constituents.
The new recommendations are a swift and sudden change to the L train plan, which now need to be fully evaluated. Today’s announcement comes after individuals have made life-altering decisions about where to live, residents have been impacted by confusing parking changes, and New Yorkers have had taxpayer dollars spent on a design that has become obsolete.
As part of the new plan, the City should continue its commitment to providing alternative transportation measures, including the M14 Select Bus Service and Williamsburg-Stuyvesant Cove ferry service. The MTA should also commit to expansion of subway lines to provide much-needed service to impacted residents.
As an everyday L train rider, I am hopeful that this will be an improvement in the lives of New Yorkers and look forward to receiving more information in the coming days.”
