Council Member Joseph Borelli (R – South Shore) has received a response to his letter, signed and supported by Council Member Rose, Minority Leader Matteo, Borough President Oddo, Assembly Members Castorina, Malliotakis, Titone, and Cusick, Congress Member Dan Donovan, and State Senator Andrew Lanza, requesting that an official timeline be provided by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) for the construction of a new bridge to replace the existing Outerbridge Crossing.

Council Member Joe Borelli (R-South Shore) penned a letter to the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC) inquiring as to why the stretch of Hylan Boulevard abutting the Mount Loretto Unique Area is still flooding so substantially after millions of taxpayer dollars have been spent on capital projects, the express intent of which was to mitigate flooding by installing storm sewers to catch runoff and BMP structural devices to help regulate the flow of water.

Council Member Joseph Borelli (R-South Shore) intervened to move forward a sewer expansion project after long term and persistent flooding at this location has expanded and adversely affected the surrounding residential developments and overwhelmed their ability to manage rainwater and storm runoff.

Borelli’s office and the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP) recently met with local residents to discuss concerns about the chronic flooding condition at the underpass at the intersection of Amboy Road and South Railroad Avenue in Bay Terrace.

The enhancements will include upgrades to the electrical systems in PS 58, PS 53, and IS 7, which will allow the school buildings to accommodate climate control systems and newer technology;

Councilman Joseph C. Borelli (R-South Shore) announced today that a construction company’s lease on NYC Parks’ property at Ida Court and Drumgoole Road East will end this spring, after a period in which the construction company will remove their heavy equipment and debris from the site. Additionally, a section of North Railroad Street will reopen to car and pedestrian traffic.
