Council Member Joseph C. Borelli (R – South Shore) is announcing the start of construction to widen Amboy Road between Huguenot and Kingdom Avenues. The $3 million project is currently in the first phase of construction and is slated to be completed by the New York City Department of Design and Construction (NYC DDC) in November of 2017.
The intersection is notorious for congestion, especially during the morning and afternoon school arrival and dismissals. Before work could begin, it was necessary for NYC DDC to acquire property along Amboy Road from Our Lady Star of the Sea school. Now that the acquisition process has been completed, construction has begun.
“This is an improvement that we’ve been working on for a long time, and I’m really excited that our efforts are bearing fruit. This road widening will alleviate congestion and make it a little easier for residents and drivers to travel in Huguenot,” said Council Member Borelli.
