Council Member has announced the passing of his bill requiring animal shelters to post photos of the animals up for adoption within 3 days of receiving this them. The bill is intended to cut down on the amount of time an animal stays in the shelter system awaiting adoption. Photos will provide prospective adopters the ability to look at what the shelters have available, rather than just skipping them and looking elsewhere.

Council Member Joe Borelli has sent a letter to Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver, requesting the NYC Parks Department to consider acquiring three vacant parcels, currently owned by Project Rebuild. The properties are currently managed under the cities Hurricane Sandy buyout program.
“It’s a rare opportunity to be able to expand a local park and when we’re presented with the possibility we need to do whatever it takes to make it a reality,” Borelli said.

Council Member Joe Borelli has proposed legislation making unwanted unwanted cyber sexting a crime. The legislation, backed by the NYPD, is in response to sexual predators utilizing features such Airdrop on iPhones to send sexually explicit photos to unsuspecting recipients.
This bill will set up a way for law enforcement to enforce the kinds of quality of life harassment and offensive behaviors that we see too often.

Borelli has been fighting for years for changes in DOE policy to
ensure clean drinking water for students
(Staten Island, NY) – Council Member Joseph Borelli (R-South Shore) has been calling for tightening the
City’s policy on how they test for lead in public school’s drinking water since
April of 2016 when he and Minority
Leader Steve Matteo wrote a letter to the Department of Education calling
on them to put an immediate end to the practice of “flushing,” or running
faucets to clear out contaminants before testing.
