Council Member Borelli has passed his legislation (46 – to – 2) to allow restaurants the ability to institute a COVID-19 surcharge up to 10% until 90 days after the reinstatement of full indoor dining.
“We’re trying to give restaurants the option of adding a surcharge to let their customers know they need to raise a little bit more money to make their ends meet,” Borelli said.

Council Member Borelli plans to vote “No” on the upcoming speed camera legislation, the Reckless Driver Accountability Ace. He is joined by fellow Staten Island elected Steven Matteo, who will also be voting against the bill.
The Reckless Driver Accountability Act aims to create a three-year pilot program, which will required drivers who receive 15 or more speed camera violations, or 5 or more red like camera violations, inside of a 12-month window to complete a safe driver course offered by the DOT.

Council Member Borelli and Borough President James Oddo teamed up to provide the New York City Parks Department with a $4 million dollar investment into the E.M.T. Christopher J. Prescott Playground in Huguenot, Staten Island.
The new playground, which will be ADA-accessible will provide a sensory experience for children utilizing different surface textures and colors and special sensory play equipment to engage even more children than just a standard park.
