New York City public school students no longer have to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend prom this year, Mayor Eric Adams announced on Monday.

“I am thrilled that, starting this year, every one of our young people will have the chance to celebrate all of their hard work with a prom and graduation, regardless of vaccination status,” Adams said in a statement about the policy change.

A Staten Island pol is amassing City Council support to formally demand Mayor Eric Adams rehire the 1,430 municipal employees canned for refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Council Minority Leader Joseph Borelli will be introducing a nonbinding resolution at Thursday’s meeting calling on Adams to rehire workers fired in February for failing to meet a vaccine-mandate deadline requiring proof of at least one shot.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Most private employees in New York City have needed coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines since Dec. 27, but that’s no longer true for some of the wealthiest among us.

Mayor Eric Adams announced Thursday that professional athletes and performers will no longer be beholden to the mandate, but people who lost their jobs since employment mandates went into effect, including former city workers, are out of luck.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has launched a new chapter in the agency’s ongoing study to widen the borough’s narrowest bridge.

On Thursday, the Port Authority announced that it will begin a more thorough examination of potential options for widening the Outerbridge Crossing, which first opened in 1928, building on the results of preliminary feasibility study that was completed in 2020.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A bipartisan group of Staten Island politicians on Tuesday shared a letter they sent to City Hall calling for the hiring of 6,000 more police officers over the next five years.

“In order to have a vigorous police force for a city our size, we need to accelerate future [NYPD] classes,” the group wrote in their letter to Mayor Eric Adams.

Staten Island politicians demanded Tuesday that Albany lawmakers fix New York’s bail-reform laws and grant judges the power to keep pre-trial suspects they deem dangerous behind bars, joining a chorus of local officials who have backed Mayor Eric Adams’ call to action.
