NEW YORK ––– Council Member Farah Louis (D-Brooklyn), Vice Co-Chair of the Black, Latino, and Asian Caucus, issued the following statement on the death of New York City rapper Biz Markie.

STATEMENT BY COUNCIL MEMBER FARAH LOUIS

“I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of pioneering New York City rapper and beatmaster Biz Markie, who died Friday at the age of 57. Biz Markie was a staple in my life, as I grew up listening to him and his amazing storytelling abilities. Biz Markie was an important figure in the history of Hip Hop who infused his music with so much fun, humor, and humility. His musical legacy lives on. RIP, Biz.”
