“As one of the communities hardest-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, our recovery has been among the slowest because of the racial disparities and limited resources. Despite the public health statistics, vaccination hubs have not been close to those who need it most. With the number of eligible New Yorkers growing and new variants on the rise, it is imperative that we remove the barriers to give Black and Brown families a fighting chance. The designation of the Flatbush YMCA as a COVID-19 vaccination site will help ease anxiety and fear among local families who were left behind by protecting the most vulnerable populations,” said Council Member Farah N. Louis.
