In recognition of his birthday and advocacy to end social injustices, we commemorate Nelson Mandela International Day.
We remember a revolutionary leader, former President of South Africa, and philanthropist who challenged us to change the world through education. He taught us that “sometimes it falls upon a generation to be great.”
Our nation has been engulfed by the pandemic and protests against police brutality. The fight for equity and justice continues as we reflect on Mandela’s life and carry on his legacy.
May we never forget his words, that no matter how small the action, we can start changing our world for the better daily.
Sadly this year, his youngest daughter, Zindziswa “Zindzi” Mandela -Hlongwane, passed away. She was an activist, ambassador, and South African diplomat, and poet.
On this day, we honor the Mandela family for their lifelong commitment to building a better community – locally and globally.
