Please be advised that all not-for-profit community-based organizations that wish to apply for discretionary funding for FY2026 must submit a Council Application. The FY2026 application will be posted on the Council’s website on Monday, January 6th, 2025 and the submission deadline will be on Wednesday, February 19th, 2025.

Also, please note that if an application is not submitted within the filing period, the community-based organization will not be eligible for funding.

Please note

  • Not-for-profit applicant users who created CapGrants accounts in the last two years can sign in using their same accounts. If they’ve forgotten their passwords, they are able to reset them on the sign in page. Anyone who did not create an account during the FY24 or FY25 process will need to do so this year. Accounts from the old site have not been carried over.
  • Applicants are instructed to contact their Elected Officials’ offices if they experience technical difficulties with the CapGrants site.

Applicants MUST complete and submit their applications as early as possible! Every year, many groups wait until the last minute and experience technical problems that prevent them from submitting before the deadline

Non-City Capital deadlines:

  • Projects submitted to the Council-only: Applications must be submitted by March 20, 2025, 5:00 p.m.
  • Project submitted jointly to the Borough President and Council: Applications must be submitted by February 20, 2025, 5:00 p.m.

Application Instructions for DOE Buildings or DOE-Leased Buildings:

  1. Complete all sections of the form.
  2. Email the project estimate confirmation from the School Construction Authority (SCA) to sherrera@council.nyc.gov.

  3. Ensure the project total is a minimum of $50,000.
  4. Applications that do not meet the instructions above will not be revised or considered for FY25 RESO A funding.

Application Instructions for Charter Schools:

Non-City organizations applying for Fiscal Year 2026 capital funding may now download and submit applications through the CapGrants portal. All groups should submit their completed applications via this portal.

  • Groups designated as All Other, Charter School, or Housing organizations may view and download their applications on the CapGrants page. If your group represents a non-DOE school or community-based organization, please use the relevant form.

Application Deadlines:

  • Thursday, February 20, 2025, by 5:00 pm: Applicable if your project requests funding from Borough Presidents.
  • Friday, March 28, 2025, by 5:00 pm: Applicable if your project is solely requesting funding from the Council.
