A safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine is now available in New York City that will help us end the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be easily available to all New Yorkers at no cost.
Where are we now?
In New York, we’re in Phase 1A and 1B of vaccination, and more groups of New Yorkers are becoming eligible for the vaccine all the time.
Right now, healthcare workers, people 65 and older, and a growing range of frontline essential workers and at-risk New Yorkers are eligible to get the vaccine. This includes:
- home health aides;
- teachers and education workers, including childcare staff;
- first responders;
- public safety workers;
- public transit workers, now including TLC licensees;
- food and grocery store workers, now including restaurant workers;
- New Yorkers experiencing homelessness who reside in congregate settings as well as staff;
- staff at COVID-19 testing and vaccination locations;
- and more.
If you are eligible in Phase 1A or 1B, you can make an appointment now to get your vaccine. Use the NYC Vaccine Finder to find a location near you — you must reserve your vaccine appointment in advance! Additional COVID-19 vaccine sites will be added as they are available. Who is up next?
As more Phase 1B groups are determined eligible by New York State, NYC will make that information available to you. Additional groups eligible in Phase 1B will include other frontline essential workers and additional groups of high risk New Yorkers, among others. Starting on February 15, New Yorkers of any age who experience certain underlying medical conditions will be eligible to get the vaccine. What about me?
As more doses become available, additional groups of New Yorkers will be eligible to receive the vaccine. Once eligible you will be able to make a vaccine appointment at many locations throughout the city using the NYC Vaccine Finder or by calling 1-877-VAX-4NYC. We will soon launch an online tool to help you determine if you are eligible for vaccine. Vaccine Command Center
The NYC COVID-19 Vaccine Command Center is a dedicated interagency effort created by the Mayor’s Office to coordinate vaccine distribution throughout the city.
The Center will ensure all New Yorkers have up-to-date information about the vaccine and its benefits. To build trust in a safe and effective vaccine, the Center will deploy outreach teams to provide science-based facts and address misinformation. These teams also will coordinate with elected officials and community leaders on neighborhood vaccination drives.
The Center will provide rapid response for public and private partners, including urgent cares, private pharmacies, hospitals and community vaccination sites.

The Vaccine Command Center is led by Deputy Mayor Melanie Hartzog and NYC Health Commissioner Dave Chokshi, but it brings together experts from across city government. More than a dozen City agencies will conduct operations through the Center, including the Health Department, Health + Hospitals, Emergency Management, the Mayor’s Office and the Task Force on Racial Equity.
