Legislation & Budget
- Passed the most bills (31) of any member of the City Council last session, including bills to expand residential waste containerization citywide; establish a Truth, Healing, and Reconciliation process to account for the City’s historic mistreatment of Black and Indigenous New Yorkers; support New Yorkers who may have been victims of deed theft; expand oversight of NYPD’s use of facial recognition software; and bolster support for LGBTQIA+ New Yorkers.
- Passed eight of the twelve bills in her Age in Place 2.0 package, including bills to strengthen interagency coordination of older adult services; expand multiyear planning efforts; strengthen elder fraud prevention & financial literacy education; and more.
- Secured 4,600 new units of housing (1,900 income-targeted) and $235 million in investments for District 35 residents as part of the Atlantic Avenue Mixed Use Plan (AAMUP).
- Secured $1.6 billion in funding for key priorities in the $115.9 billion city budget for Fiscal Year 2026 (July 1, 2025-June 30, 2026) as a member of the Council’s Budget Negotiation Team, including $112 million for 3-K and Pre-K programs, $74.7 million to defend immigrants against ongoing federal attacks, $3 million to provide direct cash assistance to new mothers facing housing insecurity, and $30.7 million to restore Sunday service to our libraries.
Constituent Services
- Closed more than 400 constituent cases last year, doing everything from helping constituents successfully navigate eviction proceedings, succession rights cases, housing repairs, benefits assistance, and more.
- Helped more than 300 families through our free, weekly housing clinic in partnership with CUFFH and offered 260 free legal appointments through our partnership with CUNY Law.
- Assisted 53 older adults with free snow shoveling through our inaugural Snow Patrol program, a model that worked so well it was replicated across the City.
Community Engagement
- Hosted more than 250 women for our Fourth Annual Mother’s Day Luncheon at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
- Distributed 1,300 turkeys & sides at our Fourth Annual Thanksgiving Giveaway hosted at the St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf.
- Brought 89 older adults to 15 events as part of Spring Senior Series, including dance classes and museum tours.
- Distributed over 300 backpacks with school supplies and celebrated the end of summer with a Field Day & Back-to-School-Fair at Jackie Robinson Playground. Thanks to our amazing community partners, we had a day filled with roller skating, bouncy castles, face painting, double dutch and more!
- Taught 61 older adults about benefits, scam prevention, estate planning, and housing rights during our first ever Lunch and Learn: Aging Well, Living Strong series to teach older adults about skills they may need to age in place safely alongside community partners like LiveOn NY, Volunteers of Legal Service, Takeroot Justice, Brooklyn Neighborhood Services, and Weinberg Center for Elder Justice
