Earlier this month, we received reports that an NYPD officer discharged their gun inside the Kingston-Throop subway station. Bullet fragments struck a bystander and a second officer. To date, my office still lacks a clear account of what occurred. Police first notified reporters that no one was struck, then reversed course, saying fragments “came into contact” with two people, without explaining how the gun was initially discharged or why all three people involved were hospitalized. My office will not accept vague explanations and a lack of transparency as an answer.

Our constituents deserve to know exactly what happened in their subway station, and the NYPD owes us a full, transparent accounting of what took place on September 10th at 4:40 PM. My office will continue its efforts to obtain answers and concrete steps to ensure this never happens again.
