Our office is devastated about the fire that broke out on Friday evening at Albany Houses, and mourns the young man’s life that was lost in the tragedy. Our hearts go out to his family.

We also want to express our gratitude to the FDNY, emergency medical technicians, and other EMS personnel who responded, as well as the FDNY Fire Safety Education team, who are still in the community. Our office is in communication with the FDNY and residents of Albany Houses, as we further understand how a lithium-ion battery caused this.

If you are a resident of Albany Houses and need assistance, contact our office by emailing district36@council.nyc.gov or calling 718-919-0740.
