Today, the Supreme Court gave cover to a fascist administration that has called Haiti a “shithole country,” accused Haitian immigrants of eating pets, and now cleared the path to deport 350,000 Haitians to a country the State Department says is too dangerous to visit.

My grandmother came to this city from Haiti, so I take this personally: every family this court just greenlit for deportation is someone’s grandmother, someone’s father, someone’s child who chose New York to build a future because going back meant death. Six right-wing judges are twisting the Constitution to enact a racist agenda at the behest of Donald Trump.

New York City is home to thousands of Haitian TPS holders who are caregivers, mechanics, essential workers, and the parents of American citizens. It is unconscionable that this administration wants to rip all of that apart in one day. We will fight like hell for every one of them who wants to make New York City their home.
