New York, NY: Members of the New York City Council’s LGBTQIA+ Caucus elected Council Member Chi Ossé as Co-Chair. Council Member Ossé will serve alongside Council Member Justin Sanchez, a freshman Council Member representing the 17th Council District in the South Bronx.

“I’m honored to serve alongside my colleagues as Co-Chair of the LGBTQIA+ Caucus,” said Council Member Chi Ossé. “At a moment when the LGBTQIA+ community is under attack by those wielding the highest levers of power, local government remains one of our strongest lines of defense. Our responsibility is to protect LGBTQIA+ New Yorkers, invest in the services they rely on, and ensure young queer people in this city can grow up safe, supported, and affirmed. We owe that to the generations who came before us and to the generations coming next.”

Council Members Ossé and Sanchez succeed former Co-Chairs Tiffany Cabán and Crystal Hudson, who both remain active members of the Caucus. The New York City Council’s LGBTQIA+ Caucus plays a critical role in shaping the City’s legislative and budget priorities. This guarantees LGBTQIA+ voices are included in City Hall’s decision-making.

The delegation includes both Co-Chairs, the former Co-Chairs, and Council Members David Carr and Lynn Schulman.
