At a press conference this morning, Brooklyn Conservatory of Music Executive Director Chad Cooper announced that the acclaimed local music school will be expanding with a music therapy-focused second campus in the neighborhood, on the lower level of One Prospect Park West, between Union and President Streets.

The 12,000 square-foot institute inside the recently-renovated building is larger than the entire building in which BKCM is currently housed, and it’ll house music studios, a concert hall, a dedicated community room, and more.

“There is truly nothing like this in the city, and the need for it is immense,” City Councilmember Shahana Hanif added, noting that the rental fees for the 13 new music studios will be far below the city average.
