Councilmember Sandra Ung visited PS 162 in Fresh Meadows on Wednesday morning to attend the school’s first assembly of the year, during which the Citizens of the Month and MVP’s for September were recognized. While there, the Councilmember announced that she secured $162,000 in this year’s budget for technology upgrades at the school.

In the Fiscal Year 2024 budget, Councilmember Ung was able to secure over $4.5 million for schools in her district. Since taking office last year, the Councilmember has allocated $9.7 million for school capital projects.

The Councilmember has visited several schools in her district over the past two weeks to announce budget allocations. A complete breakdown of all FY24 school funding includes:

● $350,000 for PS 22 (Tech Upgrades/STEAM Programs)

● $577,000 for PS 24 (Auditorium Renovations)

● $88,000 for PS 120 (iPad Carts)

● $158,000 for PS 162 (Technology Upgrades)

● $50,000 for PS 163 (Gym Renovations)

● $500,000 for PS 214 (Auditorium/Playground Renovations)

● $310,000 for PS 242 (New Flooring/Technology Upgrades)

● $425,000 for PS 244 (Gym Renovations/Technology Upgrades)

● $750,000 for P177 (Schoolyard Improvements)

● $705,000 for JHS 189 (Auditorium Renovations)

“I can think of no better way to invest in the future of our community and the rest of New York City than by investing in our children’s education,” said Councilmember Sandra Ung. “These boys and girls are the future leaders of this city, and we need to ensure that they have the tools to succeed. I am proud that during my first two years in office I have been able to deliver over $9.5 million to District 20 schools.”
