Flushing Fire Leaves Building UnstableQueens Chronicle

A 5-alarm fire generated billows of thick black smoke as the flames gutted a building where more than 30 business kiosks operated. The fire broke out on the first floor of the building on Main Street in Flushing just before 6:10 a.m. on Thursday. While no civilians were injured, small business owners who worked out of the building have been impacted along with neighboring businesses that sustained water damage. Councilwoman Sandra Ung arrived on the scene in search of those owners. “I am hoping on my end to work with New York City, especially SBA, so they can inspect what’s going on and help the small businesses,” Ung said.
