City Hall –  New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, Governmental Operations Committee Chair Ben Kallos, Minority Leader Steven Matteo and Council Members today reminded New Yorkers to register to vote and indicate their party preference by Friday, August 19th to be eligible to vote in the September 13th state and local primary election. On Tuesday, September 13, New York City residents enrolled in a political party will have the opportunity to cast primary ballots for their state legislature and district leader representatives.

Monitors Will Observe Elections for Issues or Irregularities

CITY HALL – At the direction of Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, the New York City Council will deploy approximately 20 staff members to several poll sites throughout New York City for Tuesday’s Primary Elections to conduct field oversight activities. The decision to have staff conduct such field oversight comes after numerous issues arose during the Presidential Primary Election in April, including reports of voters unknowingly being removed from voter rolls, poll sites opening late, and malfunctioning voting machines.
