“We’re thrilled that Governor Cuomo has signed legislation allowing the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to help identify veterans in New York State by indicating their status on driver’s licenses and non-driver IDs. It’s our hope that this law will not only provide veterans easier access to discounts and services, but also allow City and State government to more easily identify veterans so we can inform them about job openings, health and education benefits, and a host of other opportunities. The City Council has long advocated for this common sense initiative, and I want to thank the Governor for his leadership in supporting New York’s veterans. It’s the least we can do for men and women who put their lives on the line to defend our nation.”
