Promotes internal Council leaders, while adding experienced government professionals 

City Hall – Today, New York City Council Speaker Adrienne E. Adams announced new members of her senior staff leadership, naming seasoned government professionals to her team. In addition to adding staff with previous experience in the Council and New York government, Speaker Adams also promoted longtime internal staff members to new leadership positions.

City Hall, NY – “The Council passed the historic SoHo/NoHo rezoning to increase housing production and especially affordable housing production, invest in arts and culture, and create a neighborhood that is more economically vibrant and equitable. There were concerns about the accompanying bill that was advanced at the City Council’s last Stated Meeting in December 2021, and we agree it could benefit from a fuller discussion with various stakeholders, including residents in SoHo and NoHo.

City Hall, NY – New York City Council Speaker Adrienne E. Adams announced today that Mandela Jones will join her team as Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications. Jones brings more than a decade of public service, inside and outside of government, to the Speaker’s office. Most recently, he was the Chief Communications Officer at Alliance for Safety and Justice, one of the nation’s largest criminal justice advocacy organizations that works on public safety legislation and policy in eight of the country’s biggest states by elevating underserved crime survivors as stakeholders.

City Hall, NY – The New York City Council today elected Council Member Adrienne E. Adams as Speaker. Speaker Adams is the first African-American Council Member to become Speaker of the City’s legislative body, the most diverse in its history.
