Today the Department of Education reached a lease agreement with Greenwich House, which will provide classroom space at 27 Barrow Street for pre-kindergarten students in Greenwich Village next year. This agreement is the result of work by parent activists, local elected leaders, and the DOE over the past two weeks to rapidly identify and secure a site in the neighborhood to accommodate parents who had been placed on waiting lists.

Anti-“Scratchiti” Legislation will Require Etching Acid Vendors to Maintain Purchasing Information

The City is facing the worst financial outlook since the 1970s, but thanks to the surpluses we have accumulated over the last several years, the outlook for this year is not as bad as it could have been. However, the projection for FY11 and FY12 continue to raise serious concerns, with projected gaps of $4.6 billion and $5.2 billion respectively.
