City Hall, NY – Ahead of the City Council’s Executive Budget hearing by the Committee on Sanitation and Solid Waste Management and the Committee on Finance on Monday at 10 AM, the Council identified remaining gaps in funding for sanitation services within the Mayor’s Fiscal Year 2026 Executive Budget that leave key initiatives unfunded.

Council also voted on legislation to preserve cap on fees restaurants are charged by delivery apps  

City Hall – Today, the New York City Council voted to require the Department of Parks and Recreation to develop a plan for the prevention and mitigation of wildfires in New York City Parks. New York City’s parks, greenways, and natural areas are increasingly vulnerable to brush fires, especially during extended dry spells.

On Monday, Mayor Adams’ administration announced an additional $46 million in the Fiscal Year 2026 Executive Budget to finance 5,850 units of supportive housing, 4,550 of which will be newly built and 1,300 of which will be preserved. The administration also announced it will shift the focus of its 15/15 Supportive Housing Initiative to focus solely on congregate, single-site units.

Today, New York State Supreme Court Judge Mary Rosado extended the Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) blocking Mayor Eric Adams’ administration from implementing Executive Order 50 that would facilitate the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency reopening an office on Rikers Island. The decision comes after Judge Rosado previously issued an interim TRO on April 21 prohibiting the execution and negotiation of any Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) related to the executive order.
