“We’re relieved the Courts have stopped the Bloomberg Administration from implementing its misguided plan to end the City’s hotel program for Sandy evacuees. Today’s ruling will ensure that the hundreds of families still in hotels are able to transition into permanent housing without further displacement into homeless shelters.

Now that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has approved $1.77 billion dollars in Community Development Block Grant funding—including $9 million for up to two years of rental assistance for households displaced by Sandy— the City must work to identify and secure permanent housing for all remaining Sandy evacuees without delay.”
