“We are pleased and truly thankful to the United States Senate for approving the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act. Thanks to the leadership and advocacy of New York’s Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, the Senate passed this important bill that will provide much needed healthcare and compensation for the First Responders and heroes of 9/11.

“This legislation will also apply to the residents who lived through the attacks and continued on in lower Manhattan to help heal our community. This bill is the fulfillment of a promise to our men and women in uniform, and to the heroes of September 11th, who we will never forget. We look forward to the House of Representatives quickly passing this measure, and President Obama’s signing of the bill, and to its implementation for those First Responders in urgent need of care.

“Today we want to thank all the elected representatives in Washington who stood up to help our 9/11 heroes. We are especially grateful to Congressman Nadler, Congresswoman Maloney, and Congressman Peter King for their leadership on this bill in the House. Most of all we want to sincerely thank the network of 9/11 survivors, families, labor leaders and all the people who advocated on behalf of those too ill to speak for themselves.”
